Nowruz celebrated in Dhaka

Nowruz celebration program titled ‘Nowruz celebration and its inspiring traditions’ was held in the Dhaka on Friday on the occasion of ‘Nowruz, the first day of Persian calendar.
Iran Cultural Centre (ICC) in Dhaka and Persian Language and Literature Department of Dhaka University jointly organised the festivity at the BMA auditorium.
Speaking at the programme as the chief guest, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan said people in this subcontinent are acquainted with the Iranian culture and language more or less for a long time. “Their rich culture and literature contributed to developing our literature,” he said.
Iran Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Abbas Vaezi Dehnavi said their message to the world through this ancient and essential celebration of Nowruz among many other celebrations is to build up brotherhood and humanity among all.
Eminent drama artist and film director Mamunur Rashid also spoke at the programme held with Chairman of Persian Language and Literature Department of Dhaka University Prof Dr Anisuzzaman in the chair.
The celebrations began with the Recitation of Holy Quran and chorus by the students of Iranian International School while a cultural event was held in the end of Programme.
